We have some news for readers that’s sure to be a hit. Just because this particular topic is always popular. If you’re searching for pet-friendly accommodation near Ulverstone in Tasmania’s north west coast region, Bed and Breakfast 21 is worth checking out. But it’s not just pet-lovers who will appreciate this home-away-from-home with lovely hosts.
Five Things we Know: Bed and Breakfast 21
1. Breakfast with a Bed
Bed and Breakfast 21 offers guests a “German style” continental breakfast with cheese, ham, tomatoes, organic eggs (from the neighbours), toast, cereals, fruit, butter, jam, honey, juice, milk, tea and coffee (very good coffee from a DeLonghi coffee machine!!!) and flowers from the garden.
2. Accommodating Accommodation in Tasmania
Guests clearly appreciate the service offered by hosts Claudia and Georg. You can read the wonderful reviews of Bed and Breakfast 21 online. Presents have even been forthcoming at the conclusion of several holidays!
Being able to speak English, German and Hungarian with the hosts is a bonus for many international visitors. As accommodation providers, Claudia and Georg are very “accommodating”. They once allowed a traveller to camp in a tent in their yard when their rooms were fully booked. How awesome is that?
3. Location, Location, Location
The accommodation is perfectly located to explore the Cradle Coast region in north west Tasmania. Bed and Breakfast 21 is on McNaughton Drive in Gawler. The area is very quiet, yet only a few minutes’ drive to the beach and Ulverstone with restaurants, shopping and all essential services.
Tourists who love water activities or wildlife; bushwalking or beachcombing; picnicking or cycling, will all find Gawler a great location for a central home-base. Check out the detailed list of activities suggested on the Bed and Breakfast 21 website titled “Discover Our Region”. There’s some great photos too!
4. Pet-Friendly Accommodation in Tasmania
Resident dogs Rico and Asko (Hungarian Vizsla and Chocolate Labrador) also welcome fur-babies to their home. Many guests of Bed and Breakfast 21 visit Cradle Mountain which is little more than an hour’s drive from Ulverstone. You can’t take your pets into national parks, but dogs can enjoy the security of a lovely big backyard while their humans are out for the day! Terms and conditions for doggie guests are posted online. And dogs aren’t the only pets welcome at Claudia and Georg’s accommodation… they’ve also enjoyed having birds stay too.
5. Mountain, Ocean and Garden Views
The exquisite Neuhaus family property has amazing mountain views, boasts glimpses of the nearby ocean and is surrounded by landscaped gardens. Fresh flowers and vegetables are grown on site and shared with lucky guests. What more could you want, really?

We learned all this before our very first visit to Bed and Breakfast 21. It pays to have a great Facebook page for potential customers. We’ll have even more to report when we arrive in Gawler to stay, which we’ll be doing at the very first opportunity.
