Capital Restaurant: Dip Da Dip Da Dip
We hope the current trend for plate-sharing menus continues. We like it. It’s an excuse to sample lots of different tastes and makes for an interactive gourmet experience. We usually end up over-catering though… because food just sounds so good, doesn’t it? From Capital Restaurant, we selected the trio of dips, thinking it would be a light starter. It was no such thing, but it WAS amazingly scrumptious. The bread was salty and crusty yet fluffy in the centre, and those dips were the best ever! We made three good choices from the range on offer.
Antipasti: Please Share
The cured trout was served with a touch more of the delicious pesto. Again, it was a very tasty dish, and something we’d definitely order again.
By this stage, we were already running out of room on our little table, but the big boards with two-handled pots kept coming! The waiters have clearly mastered the art of arrangement though, because a few deft moves had everything organised and good to go.
We tried to rate our Capital Restaurant selections in order of preference, but the task was ultimately too tricky. The pork belly, the prawns, the chorizo and the truffle asparagus frittata… all good.
Two Good Desserts
We really shouldn’t have ordered dessert. Not because it wasn’t lovely; just because we’d already eaten enough. But that fact didn’t stop us. We had to ask what a ricotta and lemon beignet was, and it turns out it’s a donut-like pastry. Again, good for sharing. The lemon curd was absolutely divine, and could’ve been scooped up with a spoon alone.
Our coffee-lover enjoyed the tiramisu cake; it was layer upon layer of coffee goodness. We’re determined to return to Capital Restaurant in North Hobart, because there’s so much more on the menu we NEED to try. Next time, we’ll take extra friends (reinforcements) with us, so we can order even more!
