You may recall we wrote about Cerise Brook Orchard at St Helens, which comes complete with a chip-and-putt 3-par golf course? The entire family enjoyed that experience, but particularly so one of our teenagers. When he was offered the luxury of introductory golf lessons at Tasmania Golf Club, he was positively ecstatic. We were pretty enthusiastic too, because we got to eat lunch in the restaurant while we waited (more about that later!). Anyway, now there are plans to continue his education and hone further skills at Rosny Park Public Golf Course.
Tasmania: Golf For Everyone
Visitors to Tasmania might think all the state’s golfing involves the upper-echelon of golf courses, given the prominent exposure of Barnbougle Dunes and Lost Farm. But no, learners and hackers can also enjoy a round of golf without breaking the bank. Or antagonizing any zealots who may be enjoying a once-in-a-lifetime splurge at such a special location in gorgeous north east Tasmania.
Rosny Park Public Golf Course is on Hobart’s eastern shore, just 10 minutes from the city centre and right next door to Rosny Farm and Eastlands Shopping Centre. The 9-hole YMCA course includes a chip-and-putt practice area, a pro shop and clubhouse serving coffee. Club and buggy hire is available and fees for a round of golf start at $8-00 and range up from there. That’s not a bad price, considering views over Kangaroo Bay are thrown in for free!
