What can you expect when shopping in Strahan? That’s a very good question, and one we’ll help answer right here.

Morrison’s Huon Pine Mill

Morrison’s Huon Pine Sawmill is a family-owned and operated business and tourist attraction… a place to experience the heritage of the sawmill industry. Open daily, entry is free and demonstrations of the vertical frame 100-year-old saw are very popular. The mill is also a fabulous place to go shopping in Strahan for a Tasmanian souvenir.

From Morrison’s Huon Pine Mill a local wood turner sells a wide range of handmade crafts: beautifully polished boards for chopping, bread and cheese; coasters, trivets, doorstops, bottle holders, coat racks, clocks and barometers. The home woodturning enthusiast can choose to purchase from timber packs, slabs and off-cuts. A variety of natural Tasmanian timbers are available including blackwood, sassafras, celery top pine, myrtle and huon pine.
