The annual David Collins Leukaemia Foundation dinner will be held at the Lindisfarne Rowing Club (on The Esplanade in Lindisfarne) on Wednesday 25 June 2014. As the date coincides with the middle of the year and because it won’t be long before it’s Christmas again, we will use the theme “Ausmas” to celebrate the night. Who knows, the man in the red suit might even appear.
David Collins Leukaemia Foundation Annual Dinner
Wednesday 25 June 2014
Last year’s Annual Dinner was held at the same venue which was enjoyed by everyone who attended. The views at night over the river towards the city and Tasman Bridge are spectacular and create a wonderful atmosphere for such an occasion. Cost will be $65.00 per person. There will be cash bar. Make up a party and have an enjoyable night out or just come and we will organise a good time for you.
David Collins House
Work has commenced on the refurbishment of our accommodation facility at Lutana. The kitchen, laundry and bathroom are being rebuilt and the bedrooms remodelled to include drawers and wardrobes. The front steps are being replaced with a ramp for wheelchair access. Carpet, floor tiles and white goods are also being replaced. The installation of a heat pump will provide improved heating and better control of electricity costs.
David Collins House is 28 years old. The upgrade and renovations will bring it up to an accepted accommodation standard for this decade. It is anticipated that the work will be completed by the end of May. Think Tasmania will be able to share photos of before, during and after renovations at that time.
Leukaemia Foundation Button Day
Friday 15 August 2014
Police permission has been obtained for all major areas throughout the state. This will be the major fundraiser for the David Collins Leukaemia Foundation for 2014. We hope to exceed last year’s total of $18,662 by at least $2,000 – to raise $20,000+. We have a dedicated group of sellers who have supported us for many years, however we can always do with more. If you are able to assist for an hour or two on the 15th please contact…
- Norm Deane (6272 7672) for the Northern and Eastern Shore Hobart suburbs
- David Asten (6228 3041) for New Town, North Hobart, Sorell, Huonville & New Norfolk
- Graeme Petterd (0409 289238) for Hobart & Launceston CBD, Sandy Ba & Kingston
- Joan Balon (6431 4172) for Burnie & North West Coast
We will also be seeking support from various high schools around Tasmania. We are hoping for a great button day result.
