We had an interesting visit to Mt Pleasant recently, when we inspected the Radio Telescope Observatory and Grote Reber Museum. Tours of the site are usually only available by appointment. But we had a close-up look at the 26m dish, along with the control room and fascinating museum during a UTAS Open Day.
The opportunity to visit Riversdale Estate was also too good to ignore, so we enjoyed Devonshire Tea to complete our day in the Coal River Valley.
Mt Pleasant Observatory is located at 200 Denholms Road. Enter from Richmond Road at Frogmore Creek Winery in Cambridge. Phone (03) 6226 2439 or see the Grote Reber Museum website… where you’ll find all the dimensions and important details for booking your own visit.
