We chose a sunny, spring day to visit Bothwell in Tasmania’s Central Highlands region; Nant Distillery in particular. The weather was absolutely perfect, but the stunning surrounds would’ve been equally memorable regardless of conditions.
Atrium Cellar Door: Nant Distillery
We were advised by phone before our visit… meals served at Nant Distillery’s onsite cellar door are more casual now than times previous. The friendly and knowledgeable staff at the aptly named Atrium Restaurant still served up a killer platter though.
We were completely smitten by the ambience of Bothwell’s fine country estate, and lingered longer than strictly necessary to enjoy a shared serve of mud cake. The chocolate ganache was laced with Nant Whisky… simply a slice of Heaven.
Nant Whisky Estate, Bothwell
We’re already plotting to return to the Central Highlands for more Nant hospitality. A whisky tour and tasting session beckons. Carol Haberle wrote about Nant Estate for Think Tasmania… way, way back. While circumstances and ownership have since changed, readers may still enjoy the photos we published.
The township of Bothwell was also reviewed by Carol Haberle some time ago. We always enjoy a trip down memory lane… here’s hoping you do too. Cheers!
