Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm was established in 1984. In the very beginning, raspberries and picnic foods were sold from a roadside kiosk at the farm gate. In 1985, the cafe was built and has undergone continual improvements since then. They now have a heated garden room providing a la carte dining for 100 customers. There’s also an extra 40 seats at the alfresco picnic dining tables overlooking a picturesque lakeside setting.

New Ways: Raspberry Flavours

At the farm cafe, the Christmas Hills team are always developing new raspberry based product lines. Their latest additions include a raspberry and peach relish; and a raspberry and apple fruit paste. While the new recipes are still being perfected, the products remain in-house and not for sale to the general public. The relish and paste have been incorporated into the menu at the cafe though, for customers wanting an advance taste test.

We love to see networking between Tasmanian businesses here at Think Tasmania. So we’re really impressed that Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm are working together with other food producers in the region, looking at unique ways their raspberries can be used. There’s Razzamatazz Raspberry, a beer brewed by Willie Simpson at Seven Sheds Meadery and Brewery; and freeze-dried apple infused with raspberry by Forager Foods. And that’s just for starters.

Cradle to Coast Tasting Trail

A new collaborative initiative is just about to be launched in the region between local producers. The Cradle to Coast Tasting Trail is an exciting venture that encourages locals and tourists to navigate and plan a foodie experience of their own. We think it sounds really exciting, and we’ve published another article giving you more information about the project.

Fresh Berries to Raspberries Dipped in Chocolate

The farm café is open seven days per week all year from 7:00am to 5:00pm. Christmas Hills sell raspberries from their shop during the raspberry season, which runs from early December to Mother’s Day in May. Fresh sweet strawberries are available too. They also sell decadent and delicious raspberry products including chocolate dipped raspberries and rich creamy raspberry ice cream. They are 30 minutes from the Spirit of Tasmania terminal or 45 minutes from the Launceston airport.
