We’ve written about this lovely Tasmanian town on many occasions, but here’s a different view. Thanks to Dan Fellow, we give readers: Sheffield From The Air. It doesn’t matter what the vantage point, it’s a scenic location from any direction.

It’s amazing the perspective this gives you. A view of Sheffield from the air actually makes the town seem larger. Do you agree? Who knew there were so many buildings beyond the central business district?
Of course, all the great people of Sheffield know exactly what’s what in their own town. But we’re thinking we should schedule another visit. It would be unrealistic to try and cover everything on offer during a single trip. Or two!

Can you spot some of the businesses we’ve mentioned on the website before? Where’s Fudge n Good Coffee? What about the World of Marbles? Is that large green section where they hold International Mural Fest each year?

Scenic Flights Over Tasmania
Gavin had a birds-eye view of southern Tasmania when he took a flight with Par Avion Tours. That was simply spectacular scenery over the coastline and Tasmanian wilderness regions of the far south. But Sheffield from the air offers a pretty, rural patchwork. So close to town, you can see paddocks of animals grazing.

Mount Roland is one of the most photographed features of north west Tasmania. So many clever photographers have snapped the icon from a range of directions. And it looks just as dominant and beautiful in these aerial shots from Dan Fellow.
There appears to be more distance between the township and Mount Roland when you see these images of Sheffield from the air. From the ground, the rock seems so close; like you could reach out and touch it.

Eagles Nest Retreat
Among the patchwork of green paddocks: one of the accommodation properties that make up the Eagles Nest Retreat trilogy. This is Eagles Nest II, a magnificent holiday retreat in a dream location.

We must thank Dan Fellow for making these photos available to Think Tasmania readers. Sheffield from the air… we couldn’t showcase that without images like these.

Yes, really lovely to see Sheffield from the air.
We have gone through and marvelled at the gorgeous murals and as you said, did not explore the full area.
I still recall buying a little fruit knife from the store which was run by a chinaman in 2006. Knife is still very much used and still sharp.
Thank you
You’re welcome Colleen. There’s much to Sheffield to explore.
Lovely photos, makes me want to visit there.
