You’ve got to love a cafe that has reliably good food and coffee AND opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the week. It doesn’t matter what time of the day you arrive in Campbell Town, you can always dine at Zeps.
Campbell Town: Zeps in the Middle
Campbell Town is about 130kms from Hobart, and 65kms from Launceston. The town is currently on the Midlands Highway, but as roadworks progress nearby it may be bypassed, like Ross and Oatlands have been.
As many Tasmanians do, we drive through Campbell Town often; and often stop at Zeps. Diners are accommodated with a wide-ranging menu, regardless of the time. We ordered soup from the lunch menu last time, even though it was getting quite late in the day. When we enquired was was available at such a weird hour, our lovely waitress replied… anything you like!
Reason To Return: Zeps Gelato
A specials board tops-up the regular offerings, and pastry cabinets always seem to be loaded with tempting treats. The vanilla slice we had last time was a ripper! We didn’t realise until after our meal that Zeps Gelato is right next door. How did we not know this before? The separate shop looks amazing, and will be on our radar for our next trip via Campbell Town.
Having said that, we should make a special trip to Campbell Town alone. Like we said, it’s only 130kms from Hobart, about an hour-and-a-half drive. There’s probably lots of others shops and eateries we haven’t noticed during our brief stopovers en route to Launceston and the north west coast. Note the diary… it’s happening!
